Terms of Service
Last updated: April 14, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using TuneMatch (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use TuneMatch. These terms apply to all users — students, teachers, and visitors.
2. Description of Service
TuneMatch is a marketplace that connects piano students with independent piano teachers for online lessons. We provide the platform, booking tools, and payment processing. Teachers are independent contractors, not employees of TuneMatch. TuneMatch does not itself provide music instruction.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@tunematch.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Trial Lessons
TuneMatch offers a $10 trial lesson with any teacher. Trial lessons are limited to one per teacher per student. Trial lessons are subject to the same cancellation policy as regular lessons.
5. Payments and Fees
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. TuneMatch charges a 10% platform fee on each lesson, deducted from the teacher's payout. The price shown to students is the total amount charged, inclusive of the platform fee. Teachers receive 90% of the listed lesson price.
By providing payment information, you authorize TuneMatch and Stripe to charge your payment method for booked lessons according to your selected schedule.
6. Cancellations and Refunds
Students may cancel a lesson for a full refund up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Cancellations within 24 hours of the lesson will not be refunded unless the teacher also cancels. Teachers who cancel a confirmed lesson are subject to account review. Repeated no-shows by either party may result in account suspension.
7. Teacher Eligibility
Teachers must be approved by TuneMatch before their profile is listed. Approval requires providing accurate information about qualifications and experience. TuneMatch reserves the right to remove any teacher from the platform at its discretion. Teachers are responsible for their own taxes and compliance with applicable laws.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Circumvent TuneMatch to arrange lessons directly and avoid platform fees
- Provide false information on your profile
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform
Violations may result in immediate account termination.
9. Intellectual Property
TuneMatch and its logos, design, and content are the property of TuneMatch. You retain ownership of content you submit (bio, profile photo, reviews) but grant TuneMatch a license to display it on the platform.
10. Limitation of Liability
TuneMatch provides the platform “as is” without warranties. We are not liable for the quality of lessons provided by teachers, disputes between students and teachers, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform. Our liability is limited to the fees you paid to TuneMatch in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting support@tunematch.com. TuneMatch may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of TuneMatch after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
